Harry Del Lamphier, 78, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at his home in Fayette, Iowa.
He was born March 23, 1935, to Joy and Bonnie (Knoebel) Lamphier in Lima, Iowa.
Harry graduated from Fayette High School in 1953, then served in the U.S. army from 1953-1955, spending most of his elistment in Germany. Following his enlistment, he attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, graduating in 1959. Upon completing his BA in education, he attended Winona State University in Mankato, where he received his Master’s Degree in Adminstration.
On November 27, 1959 he married LaVonne Pollow in Sumner, Iowa.
He then served as an elementary school principal in the Dorchester/Waukon area for 35 years.
Since his retirement, he enjoyed spending his time at “The Camp” along his beloved Upper Iowa River. He also spent winter in Arizona, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Michelle Lamphier of Waverly, Jennifer (Dennis) Bockhaus of Nora Springs and a son Michael of Cedar Rapids; three grandsons, Tony Bockhaus, Ben Kwapnioski of Omaha, NE, and E-2 Seaman Michael Kwapnioski of Pensacola, FL; four sisters, Bonnie Kline of Oelwein, Mabel (Frank) Garcia of Oelwein, Carol (Steve) Niles of Fayette, Becky (Bruce) Ingersoll of Fayette, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly Edwards; brothers Bob and Jack; sister-in-laws Virginia and Lucy; and brother-in-laws Bruce Kline and Bob Edwards.
